To provide a refining method which efficiently and selectively separates tin from a tin-containing raw material of platinum through a wet process to produce high-purity platinum.
This refining method comprises the steps of: (1) subjecting the tin-containing raw material of platinum 1 to an oxidation dissolution process 2, and adding ammonium chloride 8 into the obtained solution to crystallize a crystal 9 of ammonium hexachloroplatinate (IV); (2) suspending the crystal 9 in a hydrochloric acid solution 10 with a concentration of 1 to 2 mol/L, and heating and cooling the suspension to dissolve and separate tin 4 to refine the crystal; and (3) suspending the refined crystal 11 in an alkaline aqueous solution 12, and adding a reducing agent 13 to the suspension to obtain a platinum powder 14.
