Abstract:
PURPOSE:To manufacture stone accessories having raised hard parts by immersing wood agate in a hydrofluoric acid soln. to dissolve the soft parts of the agate. CONSTITUTION:Wood agate is put in 55% hydrofluoric acid soln. and allowed to stand at ordinary temp. Streaks are raised in about 1hr. About 2hr may be required in accordance with the quality of wood agate. The agate is washed, and the surface is worked by blowing carborundum to remove impurities stuck during the dissolution. The surface is then finished by vibration barrel polishing to obtain a fine stone having hard parts raised in the form of streaks. The stone is suitable for use as ordinary accessories, a worked ornament or the like.
