Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recoating an optical fiber Bragg grating which slips little when used as a sensor and is effected little by temperature and humidity, and an optical fiber.
SOLUTION: By restricting the thickness of a recoating layer 4 to 5 to 20 μm, the influence of a change in the temperature and humidity can be minimized. Even more, the prevention of an external injury to the coated optical fiber 1 itself is made possible and the layer can play the intrinsic role as a recoating material. Consequently, the optical fiber 5 slips little when used as the sensor.
