Abstract:
To provide a method for recognizing a cassette holder capable of accurately deciding the state of the holder and a thermal transfer printer capable of easily executing the method for recognizing the holder.
The thermal transfer printer comprises a cassette deciding sensor 46 for deciding the presence or absence of a ribbon cassette 19 carried on a carriage 13, and a holder recognizing unit 51 for discriminating respective cassette holders 26 by three partitions of a mounting holder mounting the cassette 19, an unmounted vacant holder of the cassette 19, and a reversely mounted holder mounting the cassette 19 front side back.
