Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recording information on an optical recording medium which is capable of giving good direct overwrite characteristics.
SOLUTION: In the method for recording information on an optical recording medium, recording marks are formed on a recording layer 13 made of a phase- change material by modulating a laser beam to a plurality of power levels constituted of recording power Pw, erasure power Pe and base power Pb. The erasure power Pe is set in a region (3)-A in which the reflectance between recording marks approaches the reflectance of the recording mark as the erasure power Pe is increased. Thus, good direct overwrite is obtained when information recording is carried out at a fast linear velocity, and hence the jitters of the formed recording mark are set to good values.
