Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the method which can efficiently and stably recover hydrogen over a long period of time at the time of recovering gaseous hydrogen from a hydrogen sulfide-contg. gas by stabilizing quantities and components of anode liquid and cathode liquid at the time of the electrolytical oxidation treatment. CONSTITUTION:A differential pressure between an anode chamber 3a and cathode chamber 3b of an electrolyic cell 3 is decreased to substantially zero in the method for recovering the hydrogen by bringing the hydrogen sulfide-contg. gas into contact and absorption with an iron salt soln. contg. tervalent iron ions to form a soln. contg. bivalent iron ions and sulfur by oxidation of the hydrogen sulfide, then decomposing the formed sulfur and introducing this soln. into the anode chamber 3a of the electrolytic cell 3 to electrolytically oxidize the soln. and to simultaneously generate the hydrogen from the cathode chamber 3b of the electrolytic cell 3.
