Abstract:
To provide a method for recovering lithium from a waste lithium ion battery which can recover lithium at a high recovery rate, and can recycle a salt generated in a recovery process as a mineral acid and alkali in the process.SOLUTION: A method for recovering lithium from a waste lithium ion battery includes: a step of extracting valuable metal such as manganese from a solution obtained by dissolving active substance powder obtained from a waste lithium ion battery with a mineral acid, and adding at least one of sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide thereto, by an organic solvent; a separation step of separating a lithium salt and a sodium salt from an alkali metal mixed salt aqueous solution obtained by the extraction step; and a first electrolysis step of electrolyzing a lithium salt aqueous solution.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
