Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering a valuable metal (for example, uranium) from an aqueous solution having a wide range of concentration of ppm-a few grams per liter.SOLUTION: An aqueous solution 1 is brought into contact with an organic phase solution 2 containing a phosphinic acid represented by formula (I) and formula (II) to extract a valuable metal from the aqueous solution. The organic phase solution 5 is brought into contact with a water phase stripping solution 8 containing an inorganic compound to back-extract a metal, to strip the valuable metal from the organic phase solution and the valuable metal 9 is separated and recovered from the water phase stripping solution. When the valuable metal is present only in a low concentration, the method may include an organic phase recycling step and/or a water phase stripping recycling step to concentrate the metal before recovery.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
