To provide a method for efficiently recovering noble metal from noble metal-containing material of a catalyst waste, etc. by utilizing an aluminum as a noble metal absorbing material.
This method for recovering the noble metal is performed as the followings, that the noble metal-containing material containing aluminum oxide together with the noble metal is heated and melted together with cryolite to form molten salt bath, and the aluminum oxide is reduced by electrolyzing this molten salt bath to generate the metallic aluminum and also, in the metallic aluminum, the noble metal is contained and recovered. For example, in the recovering method, the waste catalyst hold with the noble metal catalyst in the aluminum basic material is used as the noble metal-containing material.
