To provide a method for efficiently removing heavy metals contained in a waste vinyl chloride resin composition in low energy by a solvent having little load of facility cost and being safer and recovering a polyvinyl chloride.

The method for recovering the polyvinyl chloride comprises bringing a polymer solution obtained by dissolving the waste vinyl chloride resin composition in an organic solvent into contact with an adsorbent selected from a zeolite and a chelate resin and then removing heavy metals from the polymer solution by solid-liquid separation. According to the recovery method, soluble heavy metals which have been hard to separate by conventional separation treatments, etc., are removed.
