Title:
METHOD OF RECOVERING SIMULTANEOUSLY ZINC AND MANGANESE DIOXIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS57149481
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To recover simultaneously Zn and MnO2 in high yield at low electric power consumption, by electrolysing an electrolyte containing Zn<2+>, Mn<2+> and free sulfuric acid in prescribed concentrations respectively using as a cathode an Al plate on which Zn has been electrodeposited by conventional zinc electrolysing means. CONSTITUTION:As the cathode, an Al plate is used on which Zn has been previously electrodeposited to a thickness of about 0.1mm. by conventional zinc electrolysing means, and as a cathode, a Ti plate is used to electrolyse an electrolyte containing 5-80g of Z<2+>/l, 20-80g of Mn<2+>/l and 1-60g of sulfuric acid under conditions described below so that MnO2 and Zn are simultaneously electrodeposited respectively on the anode and the cathode to be recovered. This electrolysis is carried out at a temperature in the range of 75-95 deg.C and a cathode current density in the range of 80-120A/m<2>. As a result, Zn as well as MnO2 that is commercially valuable can be extructed at a high electric current efficiency to be recovered.
