Title:
METHOD FOR RECOVERING URANIUM BY CHLORIDING VOLATILIZATION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04276035
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To decrease the treatment cost, to easily control the reaction atmosphere and to recover uranium at high yield so that the method can be used for a practical plant which purposes to recover uranium and that an uranium- contg. phosphorus ore which contains a large amt. of uranium but is currently not used can be used as the source material.

CONSTITUTION: Coal is added to uranium-contg. phosphorus ore and the mixture is heated and made to react with chlorine to volatilize and recover uranium as chloride. The coal used is hard coal, bituminous coal, or brown coal, and the add amt. is 1.5-5wt.% according to the kind of coal to the ore. The oxygen gas concn. in the reaction atmosphere is controlled to 1.5-11vol% according to the kind of used coal and addition amt. in order to maintain the volatilized uranium >90%.
