To provide a method for recovering valuable metal, by which the valuable metal can be efficiently condensed and recovered from scraps such as the used blasting material containing the valuable metal of a platinum group, etc.
The method for recovering a granular material containing the element of the platinum group by an electromagnetic separation includes: a separating process, in which the granular material is separated into a magnetic attracting material and a non-magnetic attracting material by the electromagnetic separation; and a re-separating process, in which the non-magnetic attracting material obtained in the separating process is separated into the magnetic attracting material and the non-magnetic attracting material by the electromagnetic separation. Since the electromagnetic separation in the re-separating process is again applied to the non-magnetic attracting material separated in the separating process, the ratio of the valuable metal that is not recovered as the non-magnetic attracting material can be reduced, and thereby, the actual recovering ratio of the valuable metal can be made high. Further, the granular material, containing the valuable metal that cannot be recovered in the separating process, can be recovered in the re-separating process, thereby, in the separating process, the treating efficiency can be improved while controlling the recovering ratio, too.
