To realize resources savings in a consumer society by recycling a used carpet without wastefulness and minimizing waste.

A method for recycling the carpet brings about the recycling of the carpet wherein a backing layer 5 and a surface layer 1 are formed of heterogeneous thermoplastic materials and bonded together by a hot-melt adhesive 4. The method has a peeling process, wherein the old surface layer 1 is peeled from the backing layer 5 of the used carpet, and a bonding process, wherein a new surface layer 1 different in nature from the backing layer 5 is bonded to the top of the old backing layer 5 wherefrom the old surface layer 1 is peeled.
