Abstract:
To provide a method of producing a high quality material containing cellulose and terephthalic acid (TPA) having less influence on an environment from waste fabric.SOLUTION: A method for producing cellulose and terephthalic acid (TPA) from waste fabric, including cotton/polyester blend materials, the method comprising: using a base at 105°C to 190°C at 40 to 300 psi (275.79 to 2068.43 kPa) for 0 to 90 minutes in a subcritical water reactor to treat the waste fabric materials, wherein cellulose with a degree of polymerization ranging from 150 to 2500, and dissolved TPA and ethylene glycol (EG) are produced.EFFECT: The cellulose and TPA produced are of high quality allowing the production of regenerated cellulose and regenerated polyethylene terephthalate (PET) suitable for fiber spinning and fabric applications.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
