To provide a method for recycling aluminum, which removes non-metallic inclusions and alloy elements in a molten aluminum metal by only passing the molten aluminum metal through a filter at high pressure, does not need a complicated apparatus, has a simple process that needs just a short time, and further gives little influence on the environment.
The method for recycling aluminum comprises filtering the molten aluminum metal at high pressure with the filter made of short fibers of aluminum borate which has a property of reacting with the alloy elements in the molten aluminum metal and adsorbs it on the surface, to remove magnesium in the molten metal; and passing the molten aluminum metal at high pressure through the filter made of short fibers of calcium carbonate which are refined from a scallop shell, to deposit the non-metallic inclusions in the molten metal and a compound containing iron and silicon which has been crystallized in the molten metal on the filter and remove them. The method needs just a simple apparatus and process, and in addition, gives little influence on the environment.
