PURPOSE: To lower the consumption units of carbonaceous materials and limestone by adding and mixing reduced iron pellet powder of iron and steel dust residues after recovery of Zn and Pb to and with iron and steel dust, pelletizing the powder mixture and subjecting the mixture to reduction roasting in a rotary kiln.
CONSTITUTION: The iron and steel dust contg. the Zn and Pb are pelletized to pellets and these pellets are subjected together with a carbonaceous reducing agent to reduction roasting by using the reduction rotary kiln. As a result, the Zn and Pb are subjected to reduction evaporation and are recovered. The reduced iron pellets which are the residues after the recovery of the Zn and the Pb are sieved in the reduction rotary kiln operation of the iron and steel dust. The reduced iron pellets of a specified particle diameter of a relatively large existence amt. of C and CaO obtd. in such a manner or below, for example, ≤2mm, are added and mixed to and with the iron and steel dust as they are or after pulverization. This mixture is pelletized and the pellets are charged into the reduction rotary kiln.
