The method for reducing abiotic stress in plants comprises treating a plant that has been or is to be exposed to abiotic stress with at least one compound selected from the group composed of compounds represented by formula (1) [wherein, R¹ denotes 1-6C alkyl which may be substituted with halogen; R² denotes 1-6C alkyl which may be substituted with halogen, 3-6C alkoxyalkyl which may be substituted with halogen, 3-6C alkenyl which may be substituted with halogen or 3-6C alkynyl which may be substituted with halogen; R³ denotes halogen or 1-6C alkyl which may be substituted with halogen; R⁴ denotes hydrogen, halogen, cyano or 1-6C alkyl which may be substituted with a halogen atom; R⁵ denotes hydrogen, halogen, cyano, 1-6C alkyl which may be substituted with halogen, 1-6C alkoxy which may be substituted with halogen, 1-6C alkylthio which may be substituted with halogen, 1-6C alkylsulfinyl which may be substituted with halogen or the like; and R⁶ denotes halogen or 1-6C alkyl which may be substituted with halogen].
