To provide a method for reducing discharge of a global warming material from an incinerator capable of reducing a discharge amount of the material on a whole than a conventional method.
After exhaust gas, containing nitrous oxide, of an incinerator 1 is treated by a dust collector 4 and a scrubber 5, the exhaust gas is heated by an exhaust heat utilizing heat exchanger 11 and further returned to a heat exchanger 7 for a catalyst situated at an incinerator outlet and increased in temperature through heat exchange with high temperature exhaust gas at the incinerator outlet. The exhaust gas increased in temperature is caused to flow through a catalyst reaction tower 9 filled with a nitrous oxide removing catalyst to remove nitrous oxide. Preferably, a substance made by using stannic acid as a raw material or a substance made by making TiO2 carry Pt or Pd is used as the nitrous oxide removing catalyst.
