Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a reproducible and controllable method for easily reducing the molecular weights of various polymers whereby the results of molecular reduction can be predicted.
CONSTITUTION: This is a method for the controlled molecular weight reduction of a polymer which comprises subjecting the polymer to pressure homogenization in a suitable passage under a suitable pressure. This method is suitable for polysaccharides, particularly hyaluronic acid.
