Title:
METHOD FOR REDUCING RADIONUCLIDE BY CONCENTRATING IN NITROGEN ISOTOPE IN STEEL OR FERRITIC STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008064641
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain a material classified into a low-level radioactive waste material (LLM) which means that spent reactor structural materials can be buried shallowly by reducing the yield of carbon 14 generated through radiation irradiation in steel or ferritic steel, a reactor structural material of a nuclear fusion reactor.

When the concentration of carbon 14, a product radionuclide, is evaluated if nitrogen 15 is concentrated to 95% by reducing the concentration of nitrogen 14 in steel or ferritic steel and the operation period and the availability factor are assumed to be 30 years and 50% respectively; the concentration of carbon 14 can be diminished below 3.7107 Bq/kg, the reference value for the shallow burial of carbon 14.
