Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the amt. of harmful impurities to the extent that the boric acid circulated in succession to an oxidation reaction is reused and to keep the selectivity in the oxidation reaction at the selectivity obtainable by a fresh boric acid catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: In the process to produce alcohols and ketones by the oxidation of hydrocarbons, a liq. reactant contg. boric esters obtained by the oxidation reaction in the presence of boric acid is hydrolyzed, and boric acid is substantially regenerated from the obtained aq. boric acid soln. Besides, the by-product org. impurities are extracted by an org. solvent having oxygen in the molecule and removed to prevent the decrease in reaction rate, selectivity and remarkable contamination of the device, when the regenerated boric acid is recycled to the oxidation reaction, and then the boric acid is regenerated and recycled to the oxidation reaction of hydrocarbons.
