Abstract:

To provide a method for refining rhodium (Rh), in which the separating efficiency from an aqueous solution containing rhodium and other metallic impurities is improved, when the rhodium is surely separated from the impurities of a platinum group and except the platinum group.

The method for selectively crystallization-separating the rhodium in the aqueous solution includes the following (1)-(6) steps. (1) Ammonium carbonate and ammonium chloride are added. (2) After adding hydrochloric acid till finishing the generation of a carbon dioxide, the generated crystal is separated. (3) The crystal is dissolved into the aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide and heated. (4) Sodium hydrogen carbonate is added into the leaching, and after adjusting pH into 9.9-10.7, the generated precipitation is separated from a mother liquor. (5) The hydrochloric acid is added to the mother liquor until the pH reaches 1 and the treatments in (1) and (2) steps are performed and the crystal containing the rhodium is recovered. (6) The crystal containing the rhodium obtained in the steps is heated in the water and cooled to make recrystallization.
