Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam conversion process enabling a desired product, especially a LCO(light crude oil) fraction to be obtained from heavy hydrocarbon raw materials such as VGO(vacuum gas oil) in a larger amount than conventional.
SOLUTION: This method for reforming hydrocarbon raw materials comprises the following steps: preparing a hydrocarbon raw material containing a fraction having the boiling point of about ≥320°C; mixing the raw material with steam to form a reactant raw material; preparing a catalyst containing both the first metal selected from group VIII metals except noble metals and the second metal selected from alkali metals; supporting the first and the second metals with a carrier selected from the group consisting of kaolin, alumina, silica, carbon, petroleum coke and a mixture containing at least two of them; bringing the reactant raw material into contact with the catalyst under a steam conversion condition to obtain the reaction product containing a reformed hydrocarbon fraction.
