The method for regenerating the molding sand recovered after casting by using the mechanical type reconditioning apparatus is provided. In the regenerating method after adding fine granular material into the molding sand, the molding sand is composed of at least one among alumina, mullite, steatite and alumina-silicate as the main component, and the fine granular material has particle size of 5-50 μm and consists mainly of silica sand, zircon sand, chromite sand, olivine sand or metal powder composed of iron as the main component, and the regenerating is performed after adding the fine granular material at the ratio of 1-10 mass% of the molding sand.
