Title:
METHOD FOR REGENERATING SPENT SULFURIC ACID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2501716
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve a well-known method for regenerating used sulfuric acid by a method smaller in number of processes as compared to the well-known method.
CONSTITUTION: In this method for regenerating the used sulfuric acid by a chemical method, a process for evaporating and decomposing the used sulfuric acid at the temperature of 400-800°C with the excess of air and generating gas mainly consisting of carbon dioxide, steam, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide together with a small amounts of ammonia, carbon monoxide, residual organic compounds and dust from solids in the used acid, the process for cooling the gas to 360-450°C and oxidizing oxidizable components in the cooled gas by contact with an oxidation catalyst and the process for cooling the oxidized gas to the temperature of 10-50°C above a sulfuric acid dew point in it and condensing the sulfuric acid formed in the cooled and oxidized gas are performed.
