To provide a method for registering and collating ID numbers that guarantees safety against theft of passwords or financial cards.

An object with characters written on it and an image are sent to a registering/collating device. The object is input to the registering/collating device, with a relay address and the image serving as ID image data. A combined ID number is formed from code data and the ID image data. The combined ID number is stored together with a plurality of dummy image data. A membership card recording the ID number is sent to a person who wants to be a member. A member uses his won or her membership card to request an information terminal to settle money. The information terminal transmits the ID number, and the registering/collating device reads from a database the ID image paired with the ID number and the plurality of dummy image data and sends them to the information terminal. The information terminal displays the ID image and the plurality of dummy image data on a display part at the same time, and a particular image is selected from the plurality of images and the relay address is input.
