Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the surface layer of a die is peeled by a long term use even when the surface of the die is reinforced and the life of the die is short.SOLUTION: The method for reinforcing a die comprises: irradiating a die material of high-speed tool steel for hot dies including matrix high-speed tool steel, alloy tool steel for hot dies or stainless steel as a body to be irradiated with a large area electron beam to obtain a smooth surface modification layer having a thickness of 2 μm or more and 5 μm or less and formed by the elution of an inclusion; forming a sulfurized film layer having a thickness of 1 μm to the die material and including a comparatively large amount of a sulfuric compound of the inclusion; and performing sulfonitriding processing so as to form a nitrogen and sulfur diffusion layer adjacent to the sulfurized film layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
