To obtain a method for reinforcing an optical fiber junction which is thin and less bulky, and moreover is capable of being densely housed in order in a large quantity into a volume space, is inexpensive, can be sandwiched and fixed by simple tools and can be decreased drastically in working man- hours.
Connected optical fibers 12 and portions extending to coating parts 16 on both sides thereof are sandwiched by sheet members 20 coated with a hot-melt adhesive and are heated and pressed from both upper and lower sides. The adhesive melts, and plastic sheets 22 adhere to each other. Since the optical fiber juncture is confined therein, is protected against ordinary external force, and the juncture is thin and less bulky, the dense housing of a large quantity thereof in the small volume space is possible. The junction is inexpensive as well. Furthermore, the internal junction is visible, if transparent sheets are used.
