To provide an efficient method of relining a vessel for direct smelting.
The method includes a process (a) of cooling a vessel after stopping the direct smelting work, a process (b) of executing the advancement into the vessel via an inlet/outlet, and including a step of separating the vessel from a material supply source, a step of detaching a lance, and a step of opening/closing the inlet/outlet, a process (c) of relining the vessel, and a process (d) of restarting the direct smelting work in the period within 21 days. The process (c) includes a step (i) of removing an exchangeable safe lining of the vessel, and providing a new exchangeable safe lining, and a step (ii) of removing a front hearth, changing the old hearth to a new hearth having a necessary refractory lining, providing the lining on a front hearth connection part between the front hearth and the vessel before providing a new exchangeable safe lining from the front hearth to the inside of the vessel, and using the brick laying work of the front hearth connection part extending to the vessel as a start of the exchangeable safe lining.
