Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for removing formalin, capable of eliminating residual formalin from a sewed fiber product in a short time effectively and uniformly.

CONSTITUTION: A sewed product comprising cotton yarn or cotton/polyester blended yarn is stabilized in shape by cross-linking bond to give a sewed fiber product (a large amount of formalin remains therein), which is allowed to stand in a high-pressure saturated vapor atmosphere (e.g. under ≥2.5kg/cm2 saturated vapor pressure) in a short time, about 10 minutes, to remove residual formalin to the standard value of 750ppm or less. By the method, formalin can be uniformly removed from the whole sewed fiber product (including a seam part) and, even in a dyed sewed fiber product, fading and damaging of qualities of the product can be avoided.
