To provide a method of removing an accessory of an engine and an accessory mounting structure, which allow pressing force to be acted to a drive shaft of the accessory to be pushed out from a sprocket side, with a simple configuration.
The engine 1 includes: a chain 22 for transmitting rotation of a crankshaft 11 to the accessory 30; the sprocket 40; and a bolt fastening the sprocket to the drive shaft 34 of the accessory, the chain and sprocket being housed between an engine body and a chain case 20. The engine further includes: first and second cylindrical ribs 43, 44 which are extended from the sprocket toward the chain case and engine body, respectively; and first and second retention ribs 24, 15 which are respectively extended from the chain case and engine body toward the sprocket respectively in such a manner that they radially overlap with the first and second cylindrical ribs. The drive shaft is pushed out using a tool 50 having a screw 51 to be screwed with a screw 48 on the inner periphery of the first cylindrical rib, thereby removing the accessory from the engine body.
