To provide a method for removing foreign substances on a printing plate without increasing the number of components and while the printing plate is easily prevented from damaging, in a printing machine which can perform both a printing with dampening water and a printing without the dampening water.
The method for removing foreign substances attached on the printing plate 1a in the printing machine which can perform both the printing using the dampening water and the printing using no dampening water, is provided. When the printing with no dampening water is performed, without feeding the dampening water to a water dampening roller 34, the water dampening roller 34 is brought into contact with the printing plate 1a, and the water dampening roller 34 is rotated so that the peripheral speed becomes lower or higher than the peripheral speed of a printing plate cylinder 1 to remove the foreign substances from the printing plate 1a by the water dampening roller 34.
