Title:
METHOD FOR REMOVING IMPURITY FROM STEELMAKING SLAG
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11302719
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To regenerate the impurities, such as phosphorus and sulfur, in steel making slag as the steelmaking slag by migrating these impurities into molten scrap iron sunk on the bottom of a furnace and making them absorbed.

This method consists in removing the impurities from the steelmaking slag by the melting furnace 1 which has a scrap iron and steelmaking slag feeding port 11, an exhaust gas discharge port 12 and a main electrode 5 on a furnace cap 3, a flag hole 7 for discharging molten slag 9 in the middle part of a furnace wall 2, a molten scrap iron discharge port 8 in the lower part of the furnace wall 2 and a furnace bottom electrode 6 disposed to vertically face the main electrode 5 at a furnace bottom 4. The scrap iron and the steelmaking slag are respectively fed into the melting furnace 1. The scrap iron and the steel making slag are melted by direct energization between the main electrode 5 and the bottom electrode 6. The oxygen ions in the molten slag 9 are migrated toward the main electrode 5 side to lower the oxygen ion activity in the molten slag 9. The impurities, such as phosphorus and sulfur, in the molten slag 9 are migrated and absorbed into the molten scrap iron 10 sunk on the furnace bottom 4.
