Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of removing impurities in an organic solvent which enables efficient separation of the organic solvent and impurities.SOLUTION: A method of removing impurities in an organic solvent includes a neutralization step of adding a neutralizer to an organic solvent containing impurities to form neutralized sediment and an oil/water separation step of oil/water-separating the organic solvent containing the neutralized sediment into a water phase containing the neutralized sediment and an organic solvent, and water is added to the organic solvent in the neutralization step. The addition of water to the organic solvent in the neutralization step dilutes the organic solvent, leading to a decrease of the viscosity of the organic solvent and thus an increase of the speed at which the neutralized sediment precipitates into the water phase. The phase separability is thereby increased, enabling efficient separation of the organic solvent and impurities.
