Abstract:
To provide a removing method of magnesium ion in a metal-containing solution capable of effectively removing the magnesium ion from a metal-containing solution that contains cobalt ion and/or nickel ion, furthermore magnesium ion as the impurity and a method of recovering the metal.SOLUTION: A method of removing magnesium ions from a metal containing solution obtained by applying wet treatment to a battery powder of a lithium ion battery waste, in which the metal containing solution contains at least one of a metal ion of cobalt and nickel ions, and the magnesium ions, to the metal-containing solution, a solvent containing a carboxylic acid-based extract is used, an equilibrium pH at the time of extraction is set to 6.8 to 7.2, an O/A ratio is set to 1.0 to 1.5, the metal ions are extracted in the solvent while the magnesium ions remain in the liquid, the metal ions are back-extracted from the solvent from which the metal ions are extracted to remove the magnesium ions.SELECTED DRAWING: None
