Title:
METHOD FOR REMOVING MERCURY USING DISTILLATION COLUMN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3847754
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a product liquid P having controlled fluctuation of properties by efficiently removing mercury from a liquid hydrocarbon L by properly controlling the overhead temperature T1 and the bottom temperature T2 of a distillation column 1.
SOLUTION: The method for removing mercury using a distillation column comprises returning gas cooled by a condenser 5 to the overhead of the distillation column 1, making the overhead temperature T1 to the liquefaction temperature of light fraction or below, heating the bottom by a return flow from a reboiler 3 and keeping the bottom temperature T2 at 300°C or below. When the liquid hydrocarbon L is brought into contact with stripping gas G in countercurrent in the distillation column 1 having a temperature gradient dropping temperature toward the overhead, mercury is efficiently transferred from a liquid phase to a vapor phase without bringing a light fraction in exhaust gas.
