Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove heavy metals and their compounds in high temperature gas and to prevent the loss of sensible heat of the gas by allowing metal spheres cooled at room temperature or below to fall in the passage of the gas.

CONSTITUTION: High temperature gas containing the vapor and mist of heavy metals and their compounds is introduced into a heavy metal condensation- removal apparatus 2 from a gas inlet 1. In the apparatus 2, when cooled metal spheres 4 are allowed to fall from an entrance valve 3 in the upper part to be contacted with gas containing heavy metals, heavy metals and their compounds are condensed on the surface of the metal spheres 4. The metal spheres 4 fall and reach an exit valve 5, and the gas from which heavy metals etc., are removed is discharged from an outlet 6. The metal spheres 4 are introduced into a dust separator 7, and dust 9 adhered to the metal spheres 4 is separated by a screen 8 to be recovered. The metal spheres 4 are circulated again to the heavy metal condensation-removal apparatus 2 through a cooler 11.
