PURPOSE: To prevent the contamination of furnace wall in coal charging and to enable stable attachment of a charging hole lid and sealing of the hole, by shielding a stock coal hopper from a coal-feeding cylinder attached to the bottom of the hopper and blasting compressed air downward into the cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: After the completion of the charge of stock coal, the table feeder 5 in a stock coal hopper 3 is stopped, the connection of the hopper 3 and the coal-feeding cylinder 6 connected to the hopper is shielded with a seeper 8 furnished with a compressed air blasting hole at the back surface and compressed air is blasted through the hole 13. The bridge of stock coal remaining in the coal-feeding cylinder 6 in uncharged state is collapsed and completely fallen and charged into a coke oven 1 along the inner circumference of the coal-feeding cylinder 6.
