To effectively recycle desulfurization slag having a low sulfur concentration as a CaO source in a pig iron making step or a steelmaking step, without receiving any influence of sulfur contained therein, by efficiently removing sulfur contained in the desulfurization slag produced by a desulfurization treatment of molten iron.
A method for removing sulfur from desulfurization slag includes: a first step of exposing sulfur-containing desulfurization slag produced by desulfurization treatment of molten iron and cooled to ordinary temperature by subsequent water spray cooling to an atmosphere in which ambient temperature is adjusted in the range of 1250 to 1500°C, thereby transferring the sulfur as SOx from the desulfurization slag into an ambient gas phase; a second step of carrying out desulfurization treatment of exhaust gas containing SOx transferred into the gas phase in the first step; and a third step of recycling the desulfurization slag in which the sulfur content is reduced by the first step as the CaO source in the pig iron making step or the steelmaking step.
