Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of easily removing the water in oil at low cost using the powder of a specific water-absorbing resin, and to provide a material used for the method.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for removing the water dispersed in an oil phase in an oil storage tank, or the water separating from the oil to accumulate on the bottom of the tank, and also is provided a water absorbent used for the above method. The method includes: encapsulating the powder of a post-crosslinked water-absorbing resin having a water soluble component therein of 10% or less in a cloth-made bag to charge in the oil; contacting the resin powder with an oil phase or the water on the bottom of the storage tank to make the water-absorbing resin absorb water; and then pulling the bag out of the tank and removing water dispersed in the oil phase or that accumulated on the tank bottom.SELECTED DRAWING: None
