Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To plan a scheduled maintenance of an anode block and an extension of life by uncovering top portions of damaged anode pins, grafting new anode pins onto the damaged pins by locating the pins by means of a grid-like iron flame and filling iron powder and the like in joint portions before unshaped refractories are filled.
SOLUTION: Pipes 21 having a specified length and an inner diameter larger than an outer diameter of an anode pin are welded to a grid-like iron flame 20 correspondingly with each of the anode pins 1. When an anode block having a specified height has been damaged to a height designated by a line (A), i.e., approximately 100 to 300mm, slag covering a surface of the anode block is removed to uncover top portions of damaged pins 1 and set a grid-like iron flame 20 having the pipes 21 welded thereon. Contact pins 22 are inserted into the pipes 21, which is brought into contact with the top portions of the pins 1, and a welding rod 23 is extended to a joint to make a spot weld, and machining chips (iron powder, iron scrap) are filled to a specified thickness in the joint. Then, prepared unshaped refractories 25 are filled and the iron frame 20 is removed before the refractories are further filled.
