To provide a method for repairing an inner face of a cylinder bore by which repair work can be carried out in a short period of time and also a cavity can be repaired without causing reduction of strength due to structural changes.
A cavity 3 formed as a recess on the inner face 2a of a cylinder bore of a cylinder block formed by casting is repaired by filling. In the repairing method, a detection sensor is allowed to advance into the cylinder bore 2 to identify the position where the cavity 3 is formed. A thermal spray gun 5 is inserted into the cylinder bore 2 to spray droplets of a molten metal onto the cavity 3 with the identified position to fill the cavity 3. Then, droplets of the molten metal are sprayed over the whole inner face of the cylinder bore including the portion where the cavity 3 is formed.
