PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the composition of a plate cylinder of a sheet-feed press to be easily replaced, by previously inserting the terminal on the print end side of the composition into a corresponding fastening device, reversely rotating the plate cylinder, and inserting the terminal on the print start side of the composition into the corresponding fastening device of the plate cylinder.
SOLUTION: First a composition 18 is inserted into a fastening device 15, on the print end side DE, of a plate cylinder 10 through a gap between an upper and a lower cover 13 and the print end side DE of the composition 18 is clamped. Next, the plate cylinder 10 is reversely rotated to the rotating direction during printing and the composition 18 is set in place around the outer periphery of the plate cylinder 10. In succession, the plate cylinder 10 is rotated in the normally rotating direction and the print start side DA of the composition 18 is set to meet, face to face, the gripping region of a tension bar by the contacting action of a follow-up pressure roll 17 and further, the plate cylinder 10 is continuously rotated until the composition 18 is completely way over the outer periphery of the plate cylinder 10 so that the composition 18 can be inserted into a fastening device 16 provided on the print start side DA.
