Abstract:

PURPOSE: To equalize deformation resistance of every layer and to improve the yield by cooling a mild steel surface layer part for a specific seconds and rolling a clad steel after making a temp. difference not less than a specific value between the mild steel layer and a stainless steel layer for rolling the clad steel composed of the stainless and mild steels.

CONSTITUTION: As for rolling a clad steel plate 3 composing of a stainless steel 5 and a mild steel 4 by a rolling mill 1, the total area of the outside layer of the mild steel 4 is cooled for at least 5 seconds by a cooler 2. Rolling is performed after making a temp. difference of ≥200°C between the mild steel 4 and the stainless steel 5 layers. The cooling provided for the total area of the mild steel outside layer is desirable to be performed at every pass from 3 to 7 passes of rolling. Hence, both deformation resistances of the mild and stainless steels are equalized, increase of a clad ratio (stainless steel thickness/ plate thickness) at top and rear end parts and width end parts of a product and intrusion of the mild steel are prevented, and the yield is improved.
