Abstract:

To provide a rolling mill and a rolling method that can appropriately control a plate crown or shape (flatness or steepness) by a bending apparatus in the rolling mill requiring large roll opening.

Rolling is performed using the rolling mill that includes a vertical pair of working rolls and a vertical pair of reinforcing rolls, wherein hydraulic cylinders for applying increase bending force to the vertical working rolls respectively are disposed at projecting blocks that project to the inside of a rolling mill housing. In the rolling method using the rolling mill, such a bending force that the plate crown on the rolling path outlet side has a target value is computed, and the hydraulic cylinders are controlled to impart the computed bending force.
