To provide a rolling method for a metallic pipe by which biting ability is improved and also the generation of fin flaws is prevented in sizing rolling with a sizing machine such as a sizer.

A slip inhibitor in which a granular body is dispersed in a water solution containing a water-swelling clay mineral is supplied between the grooved rolls of at least the 1st stand of the sizing machine and a material to be rolled and also rolling is performed by controlling the ellipticity of the 1st stand to 0.90-0.94. The content of the water-swelling clay mineral is 0.1-10 mass% of the slip inhibitor. The granular body is a mixture of one or more kinds among metal, metallic compound and silicide and the content of the granular body is defined as 10-50 mass% of the slip inhibitor. It is preferable that the particle size of the granular body is 1-300 μm.
