Abstract:
To suppress internal defect caused by porosity and segregation of a thickness center part of a steel piece and columnar crystal formation, breakage of a steel piece in a subsequent step caused by an inhomogeneous composition and occurrence of plate rupture during rolling, so as to suppress occurrence of product defect such as surface defect and poor mechanical characteristic defect.SOLUTION: In a rolling method for a steel piece with a rectangular cross section in which a steel piece with a nearly rectangular cross sectional shape is rolled, at least either of upper and lower surfaces of the steel piece contacting a rolling roll is intermittently cooled in a longitudinal direction of the steel piece prior to rolling, locally cooled parts scattering in the longitudinal direction of the steel piece are formed into the steel piece and the steel piece having the locally cooled parts formed is rolled.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
