Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a rolling method for a steel strip which can produce a high-precision product at low cost with a simple control without the affect of rolling conditions by utilizing the characteristics of four-roll mill.
CONSTITUTION: Two units or more four-roll mill 20 for finish rolling are arranged with the phase shifted at the angle of 45° each in the direction of rolling reduction. An automatic reduction control device 28 is provided by which control for rolling reduction is performed for each roll of each mill. In addition, immediately after the last four-roll mill, a hot sizer 21 is arranged which is capable of measuring the cross-sectional dimension of a rolling stock every 45° angle. With such hot sizer 21, a part of the dimension in the rolling stock is measured in correspondence to the dimension between calibers for each pair of opposing rolls in the four-roll mill; the measured data and a target dimension are compared so as to calculate a required adjustment between the inter-caliber dimensions for each roll in the four-roll mill; and, based on that calculated result, the inter-caliber dimension of the four-roll mill is feedback-controlled by the automatic reduction control device.
