To provide a method for screening a substance inhibiting heparanase activity.
The method comprises interacting a heparanase substrate binding protein immobilized on a solid support with a labeled heparanase substrate, interacting a heparanase enzyme solution with the immobilized labeled heparanase substrate in the presence of the substance, and detecting the presence or absence of a label in the solution remote from the solid support. This method is also a method for testing a substance for its ability to inhibit binding between a fibroblast growth factor (FGF) and a heparanase substrate, comprising the steps of interacting in a solution the FGF immobilized on a solid support with the substance and a labeled heparanase substrate, and detecting the presence or absence of a label in the solution remote from the solid support.
